Unlike elsewhere in the world, Malaysia can sometimes show a little fugliness no other countries can do. The recent Harry Potter book release is a good example. Normally, hypermarkets in Malaysia only sells groceries and focus on them more than any other items. But, maybe as a move that can be considered borrowed from their counterparts in the rest of the world, they have decided to sell the Harry Potter latest book as well but at a much lower price of MYR 69.90 (approx. USD 20.55) compared to MYR 109.90 (approx. USD 32.31) the bookstores are selling. They even opened their stores at 7:01am on the day the book is released to compete with the bookstores. Imagine the number of Carrefour and Tesco hypermarkets around Malaysia - not that many but still a lot.

This sparkled a nationwide decision that Three leading bookstores have decided not to sell the books. Isn’t this a ROLFMAO kinda thing?

It was quoted the Hypermarkets should be giving discounts on milk power, rice and other necessities that benefited a larger population of the country, and not use bestsellers to attract customers to their outlets, he said on Saturday.

Walmarts, Amazon and other retailers in US are selling the book at a much lower price of USD 17.99 and below. That’s like MYR 61.18), much lower than what even Carrefour and Tesco are selling. And they have stocks more than 1,000 limited books.

Come on, Malaysian bookstores, grow up! Don’t be a pussy, this is what they called ‘competition’. What if Walmart has finally decided to start an operation in Malaysia? Don’t allow them to sell books? ROFLMAO! Start boo hoo hoo coz’ you’re gonna close all your shops.
